Manipur, still trying to hold a footing in the world's most competitive domestic structure, have surrendered to Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Goa, and Odisha. The outing against leaders Gujarat at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur will be another litmus test for Bishworjit Konthoujam & Co.

With the knockout spots effectively out of their reach, two battling teams Assam and Goa will play for pride when they meet in the fifth round of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament.

Goa entered the match as slight favourites. They have two wins, against Odisha and Manipur, and two defeats against Haryana and Uttarakhand. Meanwhile, Assam have defeated Odisha but lost to Jharkhand, Gujarat, and Haryana.

Ishan Kishan's Jharkhand started the VHT 2024-25 campaign with two big wins against North East teams Assam and Manipur, but defeats against Haryana and Gujarat have jeopardized their knock-out qualification hopes.

But a win against a resurgent Odisha could revive their chances of finishing top two. Odisha, who won back-to-back wins (against Uttarakhand and Manipur), after successive defeats (against Goa and Assam), are also vying for a knock-out spot.

Kunal Chandela's Uttarakhand started their campaign with an easy win over Manipur. It was followed by back-to-back defeats, to Gujarat and Odisha. But a win against Goa revived their campaign. Kunal Chandela & Co. need to win their remaining matches to stand a realistic chance of making the knock-outs.
